GREAT EXPERIENCE: My recent trip from Hyderabad to Islamabad in the Green Line Business Parlour Car was like a breath of fresh air. The pleasant ambience, neat and clean interior, comfortable seats, digital screens, bright lighting, sockets for mobile charging, complimentary breakfast and wonderful meals, and, most importantly, professionally efficient and cooperative staff made the journey extremely comfortable. Although the journey took a little longer than scheduled, it did not bother me much due to the overall experience. The relevant authorities deserve to be appreciated.

SURGING TERRORISM: Pakistan is in a state of political and economic turbulence, and terrorist attacks are only making matters worse. Uncertainty in the corridors of power is one of the major reasons behind the spike in acts of terrorism. Instead of burying its head in the sand, the government should ensure strict implementation of the National Action Plan. Anti-terrorism operations must be initiated to get rid of militancy and extremism.

NEVER-ENDING DELAY: The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) and inefficiency seem to be interlinked. The constant delay in announcing exam results is one major indication of it. The candidates who had appeared in CCE-2020 and CCE-2021 are still awaiting their results. On Dec 26, the SPSC had issued a notice to the effect that CCE-2020 results would be announced “within 7-10 days”. There is no sign of that happening anytime soon.

EXTENDING BUS ROUTE: The Orange Line Bus was meant to address the transportation problems of the residents of Orangi Town and surrounding areas, but that very purpose has remained unaddressed. The service has a very short route that does not cover important areas, such as Gulshan-i-Bihar and Itehad Town. The service should be extended to these areas.
