OKARA: There are 527,887 houses in the district as the house counting has been completed in the three tehsils of the district: Okarfa, Dipalpur, and Renal Khurd.

District Coordinator for Census Shakil Ahmad Saqib said this at a review meeting, also attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr Zeeshan Hanif, and additional deputy commissioners Zahid Iqbal, and Chaudhry Tahir Amin.

The meeting learned that the district has been divided into 2,689 blocks and currently 13,667 staffers are working in the field to complete the national census task, supervised by 215 staffers under foolproof security arrangements.

FLOUR SUPPLY: The district administration has established 13 ‘free flour supply’ points—five each in Okara and Dipalpur and three in Renala Khurd tehsil—for the free flour supply to low-income families.

For the convenience of the deserving persons at each point, there will be seven counters with seating arrangements for males, two for females, and one for senior citizens. Each recipient will be given three bags of 10 kg.

The deputy commissioner visited the flour supply points in the city and inquired about the staff’s performance at the supply points.
