Hotels, restaurants in Murree being registered

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Department of Tourist Services has started work to register hotels and restaurants in Murree to improve services for visitors.

The basic aim of the registration and licensing of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and tourist guides was to provide better facilities to visitors. In this process, the DTS will be fixing fair rates for hotels and restaurants, approve service charges for travel agencies, regulate standard of services in accordance with relevant laws and coordination with the Hotels and Restaurants Advisory Committee and travel agencies.

Assistant director (operations), Punjab Tourism Squad Syed Khurram Hasan and DTS Field Supervisor Zahid Iqbal along with the team visited Expressway and New Murree Patriata to hold a meeting with all hotel owners. He informed owners of hotels and restaurants that registration and licensing must be done in the Department of Tourist Services.

After consent of hotel owners and the cooperation of the team, the assistant director laid down the complete procedure of hotel registration and licence fee in detail. Notices were issued to all the hotel owners and they they have been given 15 days in this regard.
