KARACHI, Jan 31: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Thursday three men to death for kidnapping a businessman for ransom.

Judge Khan Pervaiz Chang of the ATC-4 also awarded the three kidnappers, Shahnar Gul, Liaquat Ali alias Asghar and Hiyatullah, seven years’ rigorous imprisonment for possessing unlicensed arms and ammunition.

The gang of three had kidnapped Seth Karim Suleman of Akbar Food Industries at gunpoint on August 9 last year and they demanded Rs6 million for his release.

The kidnapping was planned by Shahnar Gul, who was watchman at Seth Karim’s factory in Federal B-Industrial Area.

Seth Karim was returning to his factory on foot after visiting an auto workshop when the kidnappers abducted him at gunpoint and took him away in an oil tanker.

On Aug 20, police arrested watchman Shahnar Gul, who disclosed the entire story to police during interrogation.
