DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unknown assailants equipped with sophisticated weapons looted Rs730,000 cash from the Yarik Toll Plaza, a police official said here on Tuesday.

The official said that a man, namely Bilawaluddin Jatoi Baloch of Pannu Aqil tehsil of Sukkur district of Sindh lodged a report with the Yarik police station, stating that he along with another man, namely Abdul Ahad Solangi of Khairpur district of Sindh was sleeping on the roof of Yarik toll plaza on Monday night.

He said that the toll plaza security guard, Mohammad Usman woke them up and told them that about 15 persons armed with Kalashnikovs and grenades had looted Rs130,000 from the toll collectors.

He said that the armed persons then reached the rooftop of the plaza and snatched Rs600,000 from them and fled from the spot.

The Yarik police station registered a case against the 15 unknown suspects under section 392 of Pakistan Penal Code and started further investigation.
