PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council on Saturday expressed concerns over the constitution of a nine-member bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan to decide the matter of elections wherein two senior judges Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Tariq Masood were not included in it.

In a joint press statement issued here, KPBC vice chairman Zar Badshah and executive committee chairman Syed Mubashar Shah said when the Constitution of Pakistan was knocking the doors of the Supreme Court, at that time the court had given protection to the undemocratic forces and even given the right of amendments to the martial law regime.

They stated that Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Akber Naqvi should rescue themselves from the bench as serious objections were raised against them from different quarters including the observations made by some of the sitting judges of the Supreme Court.

They said that regarding important constitutional cases, the constitution of particular benches for particular cases should be avoided so as to restore the trust and confidence of people in the courts.

They said that full court bench should be constituted to decide the matter of elections and senior judges of the Supreme Court should be included in it.
