SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Swabi chapter has expelled former district deputy general secretary Mohammad Khitab from the party, according to a notification issued by PTI’s general secretary Mohammad Afsar Khan.
The notification said Mr Khitab had been asked to refrain from creating groupings in the party, but he didn’t budge, causing damage to the party’s reputation in the district. It said his basic membership of the party had been terminated and that he was no longer a member of the party.
When contacted, Sohail Yousafzai, PTI district president, said Mr Khitab had indulged in grouping in the party in Topi tehsil, and had levelled allegations against senior members of PTI.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Sabeer, a former PTI tehsil councillor, termed the notification unconstitutional and demanded accountability of all members of the party for indulging in corruption during the previous PTI government.
Mohammad Younas, a former Topi tehsil nazim, also demanded across the board accountability of all PTI leaders at the local level, claiming these leaders had become millionaires after PTI came into power in the province.
“PTI lacks honest leaders as the current lot has misled the people and now once again wants to deceive the masses, but they should keep in mind that they are no longer relevant to people,” he said.
He said those who enjoyed power had used their position for accumulating wealth.
