MUZAFFARGARH: Two police officials were injured when gunmen opened fire at a raiding police team in Chobara in Layyah district on Wednesday.

The Fatehpur police raided Chakk 322 TDA in Chobara to rescue Kalmssom Bibi who was kidnapped by Muhammad Sarfraz, Shafqat, Ali Raza, Mir Baaz, Gul Baaz and others, but they attacked the police with firearms and baton and injured Sub-Inspector Taimur and Constable Muhammad Arshad. Both police officials suffered serious bullet injuries and were hospitalised. The Fatehpur police registered a case against the nominated suspects under terror laws, and sections 324, 353, 186, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code. A heavy police contingent arrived at the scene as reinforcement, while the Layyah district police officer also visited the crime scene. Regional Police Officer Sajjad Hasan Khan ordered the arrest of the suspects without any delay. The police were raiding places to arrest the suspects.

FALSE CASE: The Muzaffargarh city police resolved a 20-day-old robbery case on Wednesday. According to the police, suspect Akbar got a robbery case registered against four unidentified people. During the course of investigation, Akbar confessed to filing a false case. The city police registered a case against the suspect for filing a false complaint.
