ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police on Thursday claimed that the two youngsters killed during a police ‘encounter’ at D-12 police picket were involved in the recent rape incident that took place in Islamabad’s F-9 Park.

The police on Thursday morning announced on its twitter handle that two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at the police picket. Due to police’s “safety measures” the personnel remained unharmed, it added. According to the police, the gunmen during the ‘encounter’ received injuries and were taken to hospital where they died.

In another tweet later, the police said both the suspects had been wanted to police in heinous and street crimes. The police said one of the suspects was an absconder in a murder case as well.

The police said the suspects were also involved in the recent F-9 Park rape case.

The rape victim got an FIR registered stating that she had gone to the park at about 8pm on [last] Thursday along with her male colleague when two men stopped them at gunpoint and took them towards a jungle.

According to the complainant, the men beat her up, raped her and told her to “not come to the park at this time.”
