LAHORE: As many as 6,000 policemen along with employees of other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to provide security for the opening match of the Pakistan Super League in Multan.

The league will get underway with the Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars match to be played at the Multan Stadium on Feb 13. “We have planned to organise the ceremony in a big way. Some exciting events are on cards. Hopefully, the ceremony will be as good as it was in Dubai a few years back,” the official said.

For the security of the match, additional personnel have been requested from other units including the districts of South Punjab, 10 SPs, 27 DSPs & more than 6000 officials along with employees of other law enforcement agencies will perform the match duties.

According to the announced schedule, Karachi, Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi are the cities that will host the over-month-long cricket festival.

The first match of PSL 2023 will be played in Multan on February 13 and the final match will be played on March 13. The PSL opening ceremony will be held in Multan.

Additional Inspector General of South Punjab Maqsoodul Hassan along with SP Gulgasht Qazi Ali Raza and other officers on Saturday visited Multan cricket stadium to review the security arrangements and route.
