PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Thursday appointed senior lawyer Amir Javed as advocate general replacing the incumbent Shumail Ahmad Butt.

A notification was issued by the provincial law secretary stating that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor has appointed Amir Javed as advocate general under Article 140 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Mr Javed has presently been serving as additional attorney general for Pakistan. Earlier, he had served as deputy attorney general.

His services as AG will be governed under the terms and conditions laid down in the KP Advocate General (Terms and Conditions of Services) Rules, 2005.

The outgoing advocate general, Shumail Ahmad Butt, was appointed against this post in Aug 2019. He had replaced another senior lawyer late Lateef Yousafzai.
