BAJAUR: The district administration has started collecting data of religious seminaries from across Bajaur for their registration.

According to a statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office here on Friday, the initiative has been launched in accordance with the provincial government’s policy to collect the data of religious seminaries.

The statement said that the initiative was started from Nawagai subdivision, where a team of district administration officials led by assistant commissioner Adil Ahmed Sattar visited several seminaries to collect their data.

During the visits, the officials also examined the facilities available in the medrassahs. The statement said that the officials also met with administrators/principals and staff of the seminaries, who informed them about the number of teachers, students and books being taught there.

The administrators/principals told the visiting officials about the facilities available in seminaries and their requirements.

The statement said that survey of seminaries was aimed to collect their data for registration. Several teams led by the respective tehsildars have been formed for the purpose.

The statement said that heads of the teams had been directed to complete the exercise with immediate effect and submit reports with the DC office accordingly.

A source in the district administration told Dawn on Friday that the initiative was meant to register the seminaries across the district as the matter had been pending for past several years.
