BAJAUR: The local leaders of several political parties, elders, traders, and social activists here on Tuesday vowed to hold an exemplary peace march on January 5.
They made the pledge during a meeting of All Bajaur Peace Action Committee held here at the residence of PPP leader and former MNA Sayed Akhunzada Chattan in Haji Lawang area to review arrangements for the planned to Bajaur peace march.
The meeting, presided over by All Bajaur Peace Action Committee chairman Maulana Abdur Rasheed, was attended by local leaders of all political and religious parties, except PTI; tribal elders, traders, social activists and youth.
Besides Maulana Abdur Rasheed and AkhunzadaChattan, JI district chief Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed, ANP district president Gul Afzal Khan, PML-N district president Gul Kareem Khan and several elders, leaders of business community and youth addressed the meeting.
They showed their satisfaction over the arrangements being made for the peace march. They said that the march was meant to prove that the residents of Bajaur were peace-loving people.
The expressed the hope that the peace march would pave the way of exemplary peace and normalcy in the district. They said that peace was dream of every citizen of the region.
Later talking to journalists, Maulana Abdur Rasheed said that people from all walks of life would attend the peace march to make it a result-oriented event.
He said that leaders of political and religious parties, traders’ associations, transporters and youth promised to bring their colleagues to the march in a large number.
He said that according to decision made in the meeting, the peace march would be started at 10am on Thursday from Jinnah Bus Terminal in Shandi Mor area and would end in Khar Bazaar after passing through different places.
He said that all the participants of the march would hold only white flags and no one would be allowed to bring any other flag to the rally.
