OKARA: Following a meeting with University of Okara Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, the protesting administrative wing personnel, including regular and daily wagers, terminated their protest when the Vice-Chancellor stated that a committee would look into their demands, and that the syndicate would look into them later.

Sadiq Amin Awan, a senior UO official, informed this correspondent that 200 daily wagers and more than 50 regular administration personnel are on strike.

They were hired in 2018, and they have requested regularisation ever since. Furthermore, none of the administration wing’s 50 employees have been promoted since 2005-2006. Protesters also staged a sit-in on the campus outer wall, holding signs with their demands.

In addition, because they had exceeded their quota, the faculty turned over residences to the administration. Vice-Chancellor Dr Wajid said that employees’ issues would be resolved.
