NEW DELHI: Sardar Patel, Deputy Prime Minis­ter of India, in a statement in the Constituent Assembly (Legislative) on the high-level discussions between India and Pakistan, announced that complete agreement had been reached on all outstanding issues relating to partition, including those affecting the armed forces.

The discussions were conducted in a spirit of friendliness and goodwill, he said. No reference will now be made to the Arbitration Tribunal and those already made will now be withdrawn. He added that the question of Kashmir was not before the Partition Committee … . He expressed the view that all issues should be settled, including that of Kashmir, as far as possible simultaneously. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, it was reported that] Chaudhri Mohammed Amin, member of the All-India Muslim League Council, has given notice to move the following resolution at the forthcoming meeting of the All-India Muslim League Council in Karachi. “That in view of the fact that the people of Baluchistan have at present no voice whatsoever in the administration of that province, this Council recommends to the Pakistan Government that immediate steps be taken to introduce reforms in the province, and pending [that], a representative of that province be included in the Pakistan Cabinet.” — News agencies
