PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen killed a female private schoolteacher in Duadzai locality on the outskirts of the city on Friday, the police said.

An official of the Duadzai police station told Dawn that the incident took place in the Ghari Karim Dad locality, where a private schoolteacher identified as Nazia was shot dead by two unknown motorcyclists.

The teacher was on her way to school when she was attacked.

The official said that the family had not nominated anyone in the FIR. However, he said that apparently the incident appeared to be linked to a marriage proposal. The official said that the woman had broken off her engagement and got married to another person, who was currently working in Saudi Arabia.

He said that the police were investigating the attack.
