KARACHI: Two men were killed in separate hit-and-run accidents in the city on Saturday, rescue services said.

An Edhi spokesperson said that an unidentified passer-by, in his early 20s, was run over by a hit-and-run vehicle on the Lyari Expressway near Al-Asif Square.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, a fast-moving truck hit a young motorcyclist on Northern Bypass and escaped.

Rescue officials said that Amin Ishaq, 35, was crushed to death by a hit-and-run truck in the Manghopir area. The body was taken to the ASH for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, police arrested five fake employees of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited PTCL on charges of stealing cables in Clifton.

Area SP Ahmed Faisal Chaudhry caught the thieves in Block 2 when they were loading stolen cables in a truck. During grilling, they revealed that they use to steal phone cables by posing themselves as PTCL representatives.
