LAHORE: A total of 13 matches will be played in the T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament starting in Lahore from Nov 26.

The winners of the event will get a cash prize of Rs1 million, runners-up Rs0.5 million, the best performer of every match will earn Rs20,000 and the player of the tournament will bag Rs50,000.

The tournament provides an opportunity to the players to get acclimated to the T20 format, while it will help coaches and the selection committee to pick squads for the inaugural ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup and ICC T20 Women’s World Cup – both scheduled to take place in South Africa next year.

The event will be held in two phases. In the first phase, three teams namely Conquerors, Invincibles and Stars will take part from

Nov 26 to Dec 2. Conquerors consist of U-19 players while Invincibles and Stars comprise emerging players. Each side will feature in four matches in the first phase.

In the second phase, the performers of the first phase will be provided an opportunity to feature in one of the four sides namely Blasters, Challengers, Dynamites and Strikers. Pakistan’s elite cricketers will compete in the second phase.

The second phase of the tournament will run from Dec 5 to 9, for which squads will be named in due course.

The first phase will be played on double-league basis while the second phase will be single league. All the matches will be staged in Lahore.
