GARBAGE DUMP

GARBAGE DUMP: The streets of Nawabshah, one of the central cities of Sindh, are more like garbage dumps than anything else. Even the residential areas have not been spared on this count. It is easy to find fault with the people who throw their trash around, but what

else they should do? The local administration as well as the area representatives have a sense of priority that makes no sense to the masses. All they can do is to only keep their fingers crossed.

UNACCEPTABLE: The shocking incidents of lynching in Karachi have sent shivers down my spine. I am sure I am not alone in feeling that way. In one episode that took place in a residential area, two workers of a company were brutally assaulted on the basis of mistaken identity. Such violent reaction from the masses is as shocking as the spike in the crime rate that has affected life in the largest city of the country. Taking the law into one’s hands will lead us nowhere.

MALADMINISTRATION: The local governments often suffer because of shortage of funds. More than the funds, it is the fund-transferring method that is the problem in this case because the mechanism is controlled by provincial governments. The federal government should come up with a method to transfer funds directly to local governments, making them independent in the real sense.

ALL IN VAIN: The main road connecting Taj Colony Sector 48-B to the downtown Karachi has been badly damaged which makes it a bumpy and uncomfortable commute for the people twice a day every day. The road was last repaired almost a decade ago and since then the city administration has never bothered to take a look at its condition. The area residents have lodged several complaints with the relevant offices, but all have been in vain.
