Improving writing skills helps you to become a better writer and better speaker. There are many ways to write and speak effectively, but using the same words repeatedly often takes away all the appeal from your texts, and meaning from your communication. Therefore, today, we are bringing to you www.relatedwords.io — a site with massive word lists.
As the name suggests, Relatedwords gives hundreds of words with relevance to the word you are searching for. So as you open this simple site, you will find a cool ambient-coloured background with words all over it and a search bar in the middle.
Write the word in the search bar and click the arrow beside it to get the words related to it. For instance, I typed in the word ‘Arid’, the new page opened with a long list of words related to ‘Arid’. The words which had greater relevance with ‘Arid’ appeared on the top, such as ‘desert, barren, dry, desolate, waterless’, etc. But as you go down, the relatedness decreases. By default, the words are sorted by relevance or relatedness, but you can also get the most common ‘Arid’ terms by using other options on the site, such as, ‘sort the words alphabetically’. In this, you can get words related to ‘Arid’, but starting with a particular letter. Furthermore, you can also filter the word list so it only shows words that are also related to another word from your selection. For example, enter ‘Desert’ and click Filter and it’d give you words that are related to ‘Arid’ and ‘Desert’.
Apart from that, one of the useful features of the website is the question mark symbol, which appears right beside every words in the list. Tapping on the question mark opens up a box with various definitions, and there you come to know the use of that specific word in other fields of life.
While there are a number of websites on the internet that help find synonyms for various words, only a handful help you find related, or even loosely associated words. So although you might see some synonyms of ‘Arid’ in the list, many of the words will have other relationships with ‘Arid’. You may find a word with the exact opposite meaning in the word list. In my opinion, this makes more sense about the word.
Apart from the content the website provides, the creator suggest that visitors can send their feedback if they don’t find something they are looking for in the list, or if there’s some sort of bug and it’s not displaying words related to their ‘word’.
The website is a great way to expand vocabulary as well as making your scripts exceptional; visit: www.relatedwords.io
