LAKKI MARWAT: Regional Police Officer Syed Ashfaq Anwar said on Wednesday that setting up of a new police station in the district would help to control crimes in the area.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the newly-built building of Lakki Marwat police station, he said that Arsala police post would be upgraded to police station.

He said that the establishment of a new police station would enable local police to cover the area in its limits effectively. District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmad and SDPO Iqbal Momand were also present on the occasion.

Mr Ashfaq planted a sapling on the premises of Lakki police station and said that the setting up of a new police station would also prove helpful to control crimes and improve law and order in the district.

He distributed commendation certificates and cash prizes among cops and appreciated them for shining performance in actions against anti-social elements. He asked policemen to utilise their energies to prevent crimes, maintain peace and harmony and provide quick relief to people.

CONTEST: Declamation contests were held in government schools across the district on Wednesday to mark Iqbal Day.

In this connection, education department and Boy Scouts Association jointly held a function at Government Higher Secondary School No.3 Michenkhel in Lakki city. DEO Mohammad Ilyas Khattak was a chief guest on the occasion.

Students highlighted different aspects of the life, struggle, philosophy and thoughts of Allama Iqbal in their speeches. They also recited his poems and received applause from the audience.

Mr Khattak distributed cash prizes among students and said that Allama Iqbal was the ideological founder of Pakistan. He called upon the students to follow the advice of Allama Iqbal in a true sense by focusing on their education and preparing themselves to counter future challenges effectively.
