TAXILA: The teams administering polio-drops in Gulistan colony area in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police station faced stiff resistance from a family residing in the area.

According to sources in the local health department, the team during a door to door campaign in Gulistan Colony of the area reached a house where they found some children below the age of five.

When the team asked the family to get them so they could be administered the drops, they refused to do so saying that the children are of British origin and had already been given the polio polio in the United Kingdom. Their resistance created a scene in the area.

Subsequently, the officials of the local administration and health department were alerted. The officials reached the spot and with the assistance of the local police, the children were administered polio drops after successful negotiations.
