CHARSADDA: Four shops were reduced to ashes at a busy business centre after a fire broke out due to short-circuit here on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 and tehsil municipal administration fire tenders reached the site and extinguished the blaze.

Assistant commissioner, Charsadda, Alweena Faiz and tehsil chairman Mufti Abdur Rauf Shakir also visited the site and extended all-out support to the affected traders in rebuilding their shops.

Meanwhile, traders’ leaders, including Iftikhar Hussain, Hakeemullah Fauji, Lal Mohammad Khan, Haji Sadiqullah and others, demanded of the district administration to compensate the affected shopkeepers.

Separately, a 20-year-old married woman committed suicide by slamming an axe onto her head in Hassan Koroona area of Matta Mughalkhel.

According her father, his daughter ended her life after arguing with family members. However, the police said marks of torture on her body and head were visible.

The police registered a case and started further investigations.
