KARACHI: Eight schoolchildren among 14 were injured in a road accident off Superhighway on Thursday.

Sachal SHO Mazhar Iqbal said that a truck while making U-turn on highway near Buraq petrol pump hit a school van.

As a result, 14 people, including eight schoolchildren, were injured.

The injured were taken to nearby Dow University of Health Sciences hospital and the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment.

The officer said that none of them suffered serious injuries.

Man held for killing wife

Police on Thursday arrested a man in Lyari for allegedly killing his wife.

Kalri SHO Rao Shabbir said that the body of Gul Saba, 45, was found from a house in Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Manzil in Kalri.

The corpse was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The officer said the police had detained the deceased’s husband, Nasir Ali for interrogation as the victim’s brother accused him of torturing his sister.

The investigators were waiting for doctors report to proceed further legally into the case, said Mr Shabbir.
