GUJAR KHAN: Commissioner (Rawalpindi Division) Saqib Manan on Wednesday visited district Jhelum and directed the authorities to expedite ongoing development projects in the district while ensuring that work is carried out in a transparent manner.

While presiding over a meeting of the District Development Committee, the commissioner was briefed by Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Nauman Hafeez about ongoing projects in the district.

DC Nauman said that 67 development projects worth Rs11,317.8 million were being executed.

He said that Rs7,333 was being spent on 36 highway projects, Rs1,224 million was being spent on 11 schemes of buildings, Rs2,333 million was being spent on 13 health care projects, Rs359 million was being spent on three archeological projects, Rs134 million was being spent on another small industries scheme, Rs28 million was being spent on two schemes of the local government and Rs15 million was being spent on the Auqaf project.

The commissioner was also briefed about the ongoing project of Jalalpur Sharif irrigation canal and on the construction of the 129-km-long Lillah-Jhelum dual carriageway project.

Meanwhile, Mr Manan also visited the Rohtas Fort World Heritage Site and supervised development and conservation projects.
