KOHAT: The Hangu police arrested a gang of five robbers on Tuesday for looting Rs3.9 million from the accounts office of a gas plant on October 3.

District police officer Asif Bahadar told a press conference that the gang leader had been identified as an official of the elite police force. The masked robbers had looted the money while holding the staffers of the accounts office at gunpoint, he added.

He said a team started investigations on scientific lines and reached the gang, adding the police recovered Rs3.6 million cash from their possession along with two Kalashnikovs, a pistol and cartridges.

Director wildlife Abdul Samad Wazir was also present on the occasion.
