KARACHI: A Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) ship has saved the lives of six Indian fishermen from drowning close to the international maritime boundary line between India and Pakistan, the agency said on Friday.

It said that the ship while patrolling in the eastern maritime region found six Indian fishermen struggling in the waters. A rescue operation was launched immediately and all the crew members of the Indian fishing boat were saved. Later, they told officials that their boat sank due to an accident and they drifted towards Pakistani waters.

The PMSA ship provided the rescued fishermen with medical aid and food. Later, the rescued fishermen were handed over to an Indian coast guard’s ship operating in the area.

The humanitarian gesture of the PMSA ship was appreciated by the rescued fishermen as well as the Indian coast guard.

The PMSA has always been at the forefront in saving lives at sea without any discrimination and the recent action is a manifestation of this resolve, it added.
