PESHAWAR: A terrorist was killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Matani area on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Thursday.

Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement issued here that during the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange took place between troops and terrorists, in which one terrorist was killed.

The statement said that the weapon and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorist. It said the terrorist remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.

Earlier on Monday, two soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack on the security forces in Hassankhel area near Matani while three terrorists were also killed in exchange of fire with the forces.

Sources said that a brother of a local militant commander was killed in the action. Several arrests have also been made, according to these sources.
