LAKKI MARWAT: A policeman was wounded when armed men attacked a patrolling party on Manjiwala link road on Wednesday night.

An official said that a party of Lakki Marwat police station headed by SHO Abdul Razzaq started patrolling on Manjiwala link road on a tip-off about movement of miscreants.

“The party confronted the suspects, who were coming towards Lakki city on a motorcycle near Paharkhel Thall area,” he said. He added that a head constable identified as Jameel was injured in exchange of fire with the armed men. He was rushed to a local hospital.

He said that the SHO and other policemen remained unhurt while the attackers managed to escape. He said that DPO Ziauddin Ahmed along with reinforcement reached there and launched a search in the area.

TOURNAMENT: The government higher secondary and high schools have been divided into four zones for the upcoming annual district tournament.

In this connection, a meeting was held at Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School No.1 with District Education Officer Zahoor Khan in the chair.

ADEO sports Ihsanullah Khan and physical education teachers also attended the meeting.

Former general secretary of tournament Sharifullah Khan presented the report of the previous year’s tournament and thanked the school bosses for reposing confidence in him.

The heads of government higher secondary and high schools elected principal Wajeehullah and senior instructor physical education Shafeeullah Khan as general secretary and deputy general secretary unopposed for the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, the district education officer highlighted the importance of sports and asked the heads of schools to engage physical education teachers in sports activities.

He asked the tournament organising committee to ensure the conclusion of the sports gala according to the schedule set by the provincial directorate of elementary and secondary education.
