KARACHI: Man convicted of rape

KARACHI, Dec 23: The additional district and sessions judge, Malir, Khadim Hussain Tunio, sentenced on Friday a man to a six-year term and 30 lashes for raping a 10-year-old girl.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on Mohammed Ilyas, who would have to undergo an additional one-year term in case of default on the payment.

The man was found guilty of having barged into the house of his neighbour Shireen Khan in Shah Latif police area in 2004 and raped his minor daughter.

The girl was alone in her house as the family had gone to attend a wedding function.
