PESHAWAR: City traffic police have launched an awareness campaign regarding traffic rules in the provincial capital.

In this regard, city traffic officer Abbas Majeed Marwat, traffic officials and volunteers distributed pamphlets among the motorists.

On this occasion, Mr Marwat said that they had also raised a volunteer force from educational institutions of the city to raise awareness regarding traffic rules and save commuters and motorists from accidents in the provincial capital.

A statement issued here quoted the city traffic officer as saying that these volunteers would follow traffic cops on roads in educating the public about traffic rules. He said the traffic police were also using its FM radio and social media websites for informing the people about the city’s traffic situation.

The officer said that the awareness campaign would contribute to smooth flow of traffic in the city and help reducing the traffic accidents.
