PESHAWAR: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani on Tuesday visited the Bannu Airport and inspected its various sections.

On the occasion, he was briefed about the operational matters of the airport. He was told that the airport remained closed for 20 years and steps were being taken to make it fully operational.

Mr Durrani said funds would be released to enhance facilities at the airport. He said the federal government was striving for facilitation of people living in southern districts.

He said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had given international status to Bannu Airport and that the facility would be developed on modern lines.
