NAROWAL: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says he will make PTI Chairman Imran Khan and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pay for the damages caused to the Narowal Sports City.

“I will soon give a notice of Rs 4 billion damages to the NAB for jailing him in a baseless corruption reference. I was confined to a cell meant for murder accused. The NAB investigated me for three months but could not prove a single rupee corruption,” he told Dawn during his visit to Kartarpur on Thursday.

He said the Sports City was a major sports project for the youth but it had fallen victim to vindictive politics.

Ahsan was acquitted by the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday for alleged corruption in the project.

He said due to suspicion in work on the project a sum of Rs1.5 billion would be required to complete it in six months.
