ISLAMABAD: Renowned artists have donated their artwork to help the people affected by the recent floods and participate in their rehabilitation.

The exhibition started on Wednesday at the Art Gallery in F-9 Park and would continue till Oct 9.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman retired Capt Mohammad Usman Younis. Famous painters, artists and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

On the last day of the exhibition, the art works would be auctioned and the money collected would be donated to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Account.

Mr Younis said the CDA was taking all possible steps to help the flood victims, adding that the art gallery was a significant platform for women and youth from where they could transfer the culture and civilisation of the country to the coming generation, especially those living in other countries.

He further said the CDA administration would continue to organise such exhibitions in future, adding that the city was more than just construction projects and repairing highways, parks or streetlights.

It has its own distinct culture and way of life and no society could achieve its position without cultural identity, he said.

The CDA chairman further said Islamabad, besides being a beautiful city, also had a distinct and unique identity in terms of civilisation and culture, adding that artists had an important role to play in highlighting art and culture.
