DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Former federal minister of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has said that the vice-chancellor of Gomal University is betraying the people of Dera Ismail Khan.

“I am fighting for the rights of the students of Gomal University. The vice-chancellor of Gomal University is betraying the people of Dera Ismail Khan. I will not allow anyone to betray the people,” he told a press conference here on Thursday.

The former minister said that he had no personal problem with anyone in the current situation.

He alleged that on the instructions of the vice-chancellor, baseless propaganda was being made against him on social media that he was pressuring him for allowing a road to a private residential colony adjacent to the university.

He said that the land was owned by an MPA of Bhakkar. He said that it was purchased by another person. The road to the colony had already passed through the nearby village, he added.

Mr Gandapur alleged that the vice-chancellor was responsible for bringing the university to the verge of destruction. “The vice-chancellor should make it public if he has any written or verbal proof that I have asked him for the road to the colony or have put any pressure in this regard,” he added.

He said that the vice-chancellor was making false propaganda against him through the officials of university to save himself. “The people of Dera Ismail Khan are aware of his deeds,” he added.

The former federal minister said that the employees of Gomal University were already surplus so what was the need to recruit new people on the instructions of Maulana brothers and others.

“Today, Gomal University is suffering from financial crisis due to the wrong policies of the vice-chancellor. The employees have been deprived of their salaries and former workers have been deprived of their pension. I will continue my struggle to save Gomal University from destruction and steer it out of financial crisis. I will not be blackmailed by anyone,” he said.
