KARACHI, Dec 19: Saif-ur-Rehman Grami, Aneeq Ahmed and Rizwan Siddiqui were on Monday declared elected as vice-president, honorary secretary and treasurer, respectively, in the Arts Council elections-2006 held here on Sunday.

Mr Grami polled 1,237 votes, Mr Ahmed 1,126 votes and Mr Siddiqui 1,184 votes. Three panels took part in the elections.

According to the results, declared by DCO Karachi Fazlur Rahman on Monday morning, the panel led by Mr Grami won the elections expect one slot in the governing council which was won by Zakia Ghazal who defeated Idrees Ghazi.

Dr Rehana Mohammad Ali Shah secured the highest number of votes among the candidates for the general council’s seat. She was followed by Prof Saher Ansari, Farhad Zaidi, Mohammad Ayub, Kamal Ahmed Rizvi, Shehnaz Siddiqui, M. Zaheer Khan, Fakhr-e-Alam, Sayed Sajid Hasan, Azra Riaz, Seema Ghazal and Zakia Ghazal.
