PESHAWAR: Rivals killed four members of a family after a verbal exchange in Kala Mandi area of the provincial capital on Sunday, the police said.

A Chamkani police station official told Dawn that the slain, who dealt in livestock, were present in Kala Mandi area on the outskirts of the city, when two men identified as Bilal and Owais opened fire on them after a verbal exchange.

The firing left Rehan and his three cousins, identified as Zubair, Sufaid Gul and Bakht Zaman, critically injured. They all died while being taken to a hospital.

The police official said that both the rival families were related to each other, but they had fallen out over property and monetary disputes.

The Chamkani police have registered FIR and were searching for the suspected killers.
