KARACHI: At a meeting of the Pakistan Celebration Committee held here … it was decided that the members of the minority communities should also be invited to join the celebrations and that their representatives should be co-opted on this committee. ...A small sub-committee was formed to draw the scheme on the following lines. There should be illuminations of the public buildings such as Assembly House, Secretariat and the city on August 14 and 15; the city must be decorated with buntings and flags. Sweets to be distributed in schools.

The Government of Sind have been approached to remit capital punishments and to release such prisoners on this occasion in honour of independence. The above sub-committee will contact the military and Central Government to co-ordinate about fixing the celebration programme and to organise various kinds of entertainment throughout the city. Letters from the Muslim League Members from Sind and outside [the] province are being received in hundreds asking the League Office and Government whether accommodation and other lodging arrangements could be done for them if they would come to this city to witness the inauguration of Pakistan and join the celebrations during August 15 and 16.
