BAHAWALPUR: The Qureshiwala police in Lodhran claimed on Friday to have recovered a woman’s body which seemed to be scarred by acid burns.

Imran Umar, PRO to Lodhran DPO Abdul Raoof Babar, said the woman could not be identified and a postmortem examination would ascertain the cause of her death.

Locals suspected that the body was in a mutilated condition and appeared to have been burnt with acid.

Police shifted the body to the Dunyapur THQ hospital for postmortem.

The Qureshiwala police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

TIKTOKER HELD: The Kehrore Pucca city police have arrested TikToker Shehnaz from her house at Mohallah Station after her video of firing with a pistol during her performance went viral on social media.

Police after registration of an FIR No 382/22 under Arms Act arrested her and recovered the pistol and three rounds.

TEHSIL STATUS: The Punjab government is considering to upgrade Ahmedpur East tehsil as a district.

The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has sought demographic details of the tehsil from Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathiya.

According to a letter 2468-2022-Director(Dev. &General) of July 7 sent to the divisional and deputy commissioners, Bahawalpur, the BoR has sought details of population, area, land, mauzas, patwar circles, revenue circles, maps, requirement of staff along with an estimated expenditure and the number of police stations and sub-divisions for the proposed district.

Earlier, the Punjab government had sought details of Liaquatpur tehsil in Rahim Yar Khan for its upgradation to district level. There is also a demand to upgrade Hasilpur tehsil.
