ISLAMABAD: Two persons were taken into custody after weapons were recovered from them at the venue of PTI’s public gathering at Parade Ground here on Saturday, police said.

Moreover, another person was arrested from behind the main stage of the venue where he was spotted acting suspiciously.

The two persons were arrested separately when they were entering the venue from the main entrance. During search, 30-bore pistols were recovered from them along with ammunition, said the police.

The suspects were shifted to the Aabpara police station for interrogation and verification of their identification and status, the police said. One of them was later identified as Saad Ghani, a native of Buner. He was carrying a 30-bore pistol along with 13 rounds.

The other suspect was identified as Wazir Khan, a native of Lower Dir, the police said, adding a loaded 30-bore pistol was recovered from him.

The police of their native towns were approached immediately with a request for verification of these arrested men, adding legal action was being initiated against them.

After the arrest of the two persons with weapons, the security in and around the stage of the PTI leadership was further strengthened and police presence was increased there, they added.

Later, another suspect was arrested from behind the stage. He was also shifted to the Aabpara police station for interrogation and verification.
