ISLAMABAD: Wife of former judge of Supreme Court Justice Ghulam Safdar passed away on Monday. She was 85.

The deceased was the mother-in-law of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief JusticeAthar Minallah.

She was laid to rest in her native village of Sirikot in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Judges of the Supreme Court and IHC, notables of the area, judges of sessions’ courts, senior lawyers, government officials and a large number of people attended her funeral prayers.

Law Minister Barrister Azam Nazeer Tarrar, Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Senator Irfan Siddiqqui expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.

The deceased, Jean Shah, had witnessed many ups and downs as her husband, the late Justice Safdar Shah had to leave Pakistan after facing the wrath of the then military dictator Gen Ziaul Haq for his dissenting note in the apex court judgement in Nawab Mohammad Ahmed Khan murder case in which former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was awarded the death sentence.
