KARACHI: A young man was shot dead on the outskirts of the metropolis on Sunday, police said.

The Gulshan-i-Maymar police said that the body of a man, in his early 30s, with gunshot wounds was recovered from Kareem Garden. The victim was identified as Abdul Ghaffar.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police were investigating the case to ascertain the motive for the murder as well as the identities of the killer(s).

Young man commits suicide

A young man committed suicide in the Korangi 51-C area on Sunday.

The Zaman Town police said that 30-year-old Faisal Azam ended his life by shooting himself inside his home. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The motive for taking such an extreme step could not be known till late in the night.

Labourer dies

A young labourer died while another injured in Korangi’s Bilal Colony on Sunday, according to rescue services.

They added that the labourers were busy in their manual work when some concrete structure fall and they stuck in the rubble in Mohammed Ali Goth. They were retrieved and shifted to the JPMC where doctors pronounced Ali Hasan, 30.

Another labourer, identified as Juma Khan, 27, got admitted for treatment.

Three hurt in celebratory firing

Three people, including a boy, were shot at and wounded in celebratory gunfire during a wedding ceremony in New Karachi Industrial Area, police said on Sunday.

They said that the incident took place in Khamiso Goth late on Saturday night and those wounded were identified as Yaseen, 32, Imran, 16, and Naveed, 25.

They were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Two men were shot at and wounded by armed robbers in different parts of the city on Sunday.

The Pakistan Bazaar police said that 25-year-old Nabil Saleem was shot and wounded by the firing of unknown robbers when he resisted their robbery bid in Orangi Town’s Mohajir Chowk.

The wounded man was shifted to the ASH.

In another incident, Amir Husain, 25, was shot and wounded by armed muggers when he put up resistance to them at Teen Hatti near Filmistan.
