ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s junior cyclist Afnan and coach Sarmad Shabab have left for South Korea to train at the World Cycling Center there.

The expenses of the 25-day training programme would be met by the Korean Cycling Federation, Pakistan Cycling Federation president Syed Azhar Ali Shah said.

The tour was made possible due to the efforts made by Azhar. So far more than a dozen male and female coaches and cyclists from Pakistan had been trained in Korea.

Azhar said the newly trained coaches were playing a vital role in promoting cycling in Pakistan.

“Korea’s cycling authorities have promised to provide training opportunities for our cyclists and coaches in the future,” Azhar said.

“Almost all old coaches have retired. We are grateful to Korea for helping us continue the camp in Pakistan under the supervision of UCI Level II coaches.”
