LOWER DIR: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said here on Thursday said Pakistan was just a source of income for the few families, who had nothing to do with the welfare of the nation.

Addressing a ‘Youth Leadership Convention’ organised by the youth wing of JI, he said that all political parties in the country were hijacked by corrupt people, who were facing cases. He said that the leaders of various political parties were defending each other. He said that the country was passing through a crucial period.

Speaking on the occasion, JI youth wing provincial chief Suhaibud Din Kakakhel said that their organisation was a true preacher of Islam. He asked the participants to play an active role in educating the nation.

“All the hopes and expectations of the country and the nation have been pinned on the young generation. Youth are the most precious asset of this country,” he said.

EXAMS: The chairman of the board of intermediate and secondary education (BISE) Malakand, Prof Zameen Gul, on Thursday said that annual examinations of higher secondary school certificates would start on June 10 for which all preparations had been completed.

Talking to local journalists at his office, he said that more than 70,000 candidates would participate in the examinations for which 185 boys and 60 girls’ examination centres had been set up.

The assistant controller of examinations, Naeemullah, Mohammad Iqbal and representatives of government and private educational institutions were also present on the occasio.

TIMBER: The forest department on Thursday foiled a bid of timber smuggling from the area to Peshawar.

The timber was being smuggled in an oil tanker. The forest officials and police stopped the oil

tanker in Odigram and seized the timber hidden in it. The timber was shifted to Chakdara timber depot and the driver was arrested.
