KOHAT: District development advisory committee chairman Ziaullah Bangash on Sunday directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to ensure smooth electricity supply to the residents of Kohat within one week, or the people would storm the two grid stations in the district.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the MPA said that Pesco had not mended ways despite its executive engineers had promised improving the power supply situation during a meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office recently.

He said like in 2016 when people had stormed the grid stations, they would besiege them again if Pesco did not end the inhuman loadshedding in the hot weather.

Mr Bangash also asked the Pesco officials to exempt the Kohat city from loadshedding as it had a 100 per cent recovery rate, and resolve the issue of overbilling.

POL PRICE INCREASE REJECTED: The traders’ associations have rejected the hefty increase in prices of petroleum products amid the already gloomy economic situation.

Grand Tajir Alliance chairman Haji Abid Khan and president of Kohat Tajir Ittehad Ameer Khan Afridi told reporters on Sunday that the government had increased the POL prices ‘under pressure’ from IMF.

They observed that wrong policies of the government had broken the backbone of people, especially the business community, by increasing the electricity and gas tariffs and taxes every now and then. They threatened that the business community would adopt a future line of action if corrective steps were not taken without delay.
