TIMERGARA: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Muzaffar Syed is likely to quit the party and join either Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl or Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, sources close to him told reporters here on Sunday.
Though the former provincial minister has denied the reports of quitting the PPP, the rumour has been around for quite some time.
The sources said the former finance minister had got disillusioned after the party’s local leaders allegedly campaigned against their own party candidates like Malik Barkat Khan in Timergara and Naeemullah in Adenzai tehsils during the local body elections.
The sources said Mr Syed had threatened to quit the party during a provincial leadership’s meeting if his concerns were not addressed. “If the PPP leadership fails to address his concerns, he will soon join another party,” the sources added.
Muzaffar Syed had joined the PPP in November 2020 after quitting the Jamaat-i-Islami.
The sources said leaderships of JI, PTI and JUI-F had been contacting him for last few weeks, but he would likely join JUI-F.
JUI-F provincial chief Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman had met him during his recent visit to the district and invited him to join his party, the sources added.
