In the death of Kaka Khushal, Islamkot in Tharparkar area has lost another decent soul. An octogenarian, who was a retired officer of the revenue service, was associated with Nenuram Ashram from dawn to dusk along with his team of volunteers who used to provide food to hundreds of patients and their attendants. Philanthropists from across the country used to come to his aid because of his unblemished reputation. Hopefully, his team will continue his legacy.

EDUCATION VACANCIES: The Wahi Pandhi Union Council (UC) in Johi taluka of Dadu district is considered a ‘hard area’ by the education department. The education coverage of the UC is meagre due to the lack of schools and teachers. Unfortunately, there are over 40 male and 10 female vacant posts of primary school teacher (PST), but the administration has only announced about half as many vacancies, which is unjust. The relevant authorities should investigate the matter and ensure appointment against all the vacant seats.

DEADLY HIGHWAY: In the last few months, more than two dozen accidents have taken place on the Indus highway, from Jamshoro to Sehwan. Recently, a truck and a van collided, resulting in 13 deaths. Still, no action has been taken by the authorities. The construction of the dual-carriageway that started in April 2019 was to be completed within a year, but is still incomplete. The authorities should ensure early completion of the project so that the deadly accidents may be controlled.

FAULTY SYSTEM: The Federal Shariat Court has deemed Swara an un-Islamic practice. While the decision is perfect, such ills can only be addressed through proper execution of such verdicts. It will be in the spirit of things if the court could keep an eye on that critical element and hold the administration responsible in case the verdict is flouted even once.
