ISLAMABAD: Long-serving national champion Aqeel Khan added another feather to his cap by clinching CAS Khyber Cup National Ranking Championship title here at PTF Complex on Thursday.

The 42-year-old Aqeel, who has long dominated the national circuit despite his advancing years thanks to little competition emerging from the junior players, crushed Mohammad Shoaib 7-5, 6-2 in the final.

Shoaib, alongside Muzammil Murtaza, is one the youngsters who have risen through the ranks in recent years but winning against Aqeel is always a difficult proposition. In over two decades, he’s lost only a handful of matches.
