LONDON: The main British Cabinet-Viceroy talks concluded today [May 23]. A special meeting of the full Cabinet approved the blue-print of the Viceroy’s power transfer procedure plan for the leaders meeting at New Delhi and Orthodox Liberal Party leaders, who have been informed by the Prime Minister, Mr Clement Attlee, of what is proposed, ranged themselves alongside the British Government in supporting the plan, radios Reuter’s political correspondent.

These were the main moves in the day which has strengthened British political opinion in the belief that the Delhi Conference on June 2 is likely to split India into Hindustan and Pakistan.

…The Prime Minister, Mr. Clement Attlee, has now told all the chief Opposition leaders of the action the Viceroy will take when he meets the Indian leaders in a round-table conference. …A point, which is evidently Britain’s continuous concern, is that all plans about to be considered must be put into effect rapidly. The time available for the final decision on the form of preparation for transfer is now a matter of months. The best part of the year remaining between now and June 1948, informed quarters say, will be required for the actual process of transfer… .
