ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Saturday removed the inspector general of Islamabad police and the Establishment Division also notified promotion and posting/transfer of top bureaucrats.

According to notifications issued by the Establishment Division, Ahsan Younas has been removed from the post of IGP Islamabad and his services have been placed at the disposal of the Punjab police.

Mr Younas, a BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), had earlier served as the city police officer Rawalpindi. The Establishment Division transferred him to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but he managed to stay in the garrison city beyond the prescribed period and was then appointed as the IGP Islamabad by the previous government of PTI in December 2021.

The government on Saturday posted Akbar Nasir Khan, a BS-20 PSP officer, as the IGP Islamabad. He was serving in the National Counter-Terrorism Authority.

Likewise, the Establishment Division issued a notification for the transfer of Senior Superintendent Police Islamabad Mohammad Faisal (BS-19) to Punjab.

PSP officers in BS-19 retired Lt Commander Yasir Afridi from KP and Sohail Zafar Chattha, awaiting posting, were transferred to the Islamabad police.

Earlier, the Establishment Division had notified the promotion of seven PSP officers to BS-22. They included Aftab Ahmed Pathan, Alam Mahsud, IGP KP Mozzam Jan Ansari, IGP Balochistan Mohsin Hassan Butt, IGP Punjab Sardar Ali Khan, Salahuddin Khan and Aamir Ali Malik.

The division also notified the promotion in BS-22 and posting of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) officers Dr Rashid Mansoor, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Tauqeer Hussain Shah, Secretary Benazir Income Support Programme Dr Ismat Tahira and Bushra Aman, National Institute of Population Studies as Executive Director, Zulfiqar Haider, Special Secretary Petroleum Division, Naveed Alauddin, Director General National Archives, Hamad Yaqub Sheikh, Secretary Finance Division, Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, Secretary National Health Service, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Secretary Planning, Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC), Mohammad Fakhar-i-Alam Irfan, Secretary Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division, Saif Anjum, Special Secretary Interior Division, Mohammad Usman Chachar, Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir, Ezaz Aslam Dar, Special Secretary Cabinet Division, Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, Special Secretary Communication Division, Sara Saeed, Special Secretary PM Office, Jawad Paul, Registrar Supreme Court, and Imdadullah Bosal, Special Secretary Finance Division.

The BS-22 officers of Secretariat Group, including Toaha Hussain Bugti was posted as Member Prime Minister’s Inspection Team, Syed Hussain Mehdi as Secretary Federal Public Service Commission, Waqar Ahmed as Secretary to the President, Mirza Nasiruddin Mashood Ahmed as Special Secretary Establishment Division and Mohammad Shakeel Malik as Secretary Parliamentary Affairs Division.
